Prepare your workspace, this can get messy! You can use acrylic paint or block printing inks. We recommend using Specialist Crafts X4 Acryl.

Begin by preparing a few backgrounds to be printed on. Roll out some paint onto your gelli plate, then place your card on top and rub down firmly to transfer your paint.

You can create your own stencils using stencil card and a craft knife. Make repeated shapes for repeated patterns and to fill the space of your gelli plate.

Your stencils can then be used to make single prints, or by printing onto one of your dried backgrounds from Step 2. You can place a piece of paper under the gelli plate to help realign and ensure you print in the same place.

Experiment printing with snowflakes! Create your intricate snowflake by folding a paper circle in half and repeating it two more times to create a triangle shape. Draw on the design above and then carefully cut this out, and gently unfold it.

Ink up your gelli plate, and place your snowflakes on top to fill the space. Print onto your card, and you will be left with your snowflake designs. NOTE: As your paper snowflakes are intricate, they may only last for one print.

You can then make ‘ghost prints’ to add to your print by inking up your gelli plate with a stencil. Print this on to a card, making sure the ink around your template has been removed.

Carefully remove your stencil, and you should be left with ink or paint where this didn't print in the previous step. This can then be printed on top of your snowflake design for more details. Once your prints have dried, they can be used as Christmas cards and postcards for your friends and family!
