Create your very own medals, perfect for Sports Day!
Take a fist sized ball of clay, and pinch off a small amount ready for decorating with later. Push your thumbs into the centre of the ball, and pinch up the walls to create a bowl shape.
Turn your pinch pot on its side. Now, with your small amount of leftover clay, sculpt features for your pot. Try eyes, ears, noses, tongues, teeth, spikes, hands and feet! Make as many or as few as you like! Score the back of each feature and moisten with a little water on a paintbrush to help the pieces of clay to stick together.
Once your monster has all its features, it’s time to add some texture! Loop tools are particularly effective for adding scales. Just lightly press the wire into the clay.
When your monster is complete, it’s time to let it dry. This can take several days. When the clay is dry, it will turn a light grey colour, and should feel warm to the touch. If any features fall off after drying, they can be glued back on with a dab of PVA glue.
Use X4 Standard Acryl paint to decorate your dried clay creation. Leave to dry overnight.
Tip!
Instead of doing individual dolls you could create a big flower garland to hang from the ceiling that all the class could contribute to.
